LAYERS SERIES, 2016 - 2017
In this series the artist uses the medium of silk screen printing to explore layers of abstraction and information. Ortiz explores the many layers of stacked images, finding new shapes, abstract forms and color palettes, a silhouette or fleeing face in the layers of old wheat paste street advertisements. He photographs and then reworks each artwork in many layers in the preparation of his printing screens.
